Into the Garden - May 2024
With the lovely weather, we’re sure you’ve been busy planting seeds like we have, make sure to keep a diary of all the seeds you have planted, so you can keep track of your growing plants, and remember what you planted and if anything went wrong.
Sweet Peas
These lovely smelling pretty flowers are climbing plants so you’ll need a trellace to support them, they are quite hardy plants so can go outside from mid May once the last frosts have finished.
Sunflowers
The sunflowers you planted last month, should be big enough to head outside now, make sure they have a stake to support them, you will need to turn them to keep them growing straight upwards, as they follow the sun.

Make a nature garden
Make your garden Bee & Butterfly Friendly, by planting blue and purple flowers, which are the most attractive to them. Lavender is one of their favourite flowers and you’ll get a beautiful scent in the evenings, lavender does take some time to grow especially from seed so be patient and start it off now in the greenhouse or on your windowsill. Oregano is another favourite, however this herb is self seeding so best to plant it in a nice pot rather than the ground, and you’ll have a lovely herb to use straight from your garden.
